5 Foods To Avoid While On The Sea

True, vacations are all about indulging in the fun and losing yourself in the moment, but it’s not smart to overindulge in all the food available to eat. Seasickness can take a turn for the worst if you don’t keep a check on what you’re eating.

Remember: there’s no pharmacy in the middle of the sea if you develop a serious sickness for which there’s no medication available on board.

Everything from the light bites to the dense delights set temptingly on the counters and tables will look appealing to you. But don’t let the first buffet on the cruise be the last thing you do on this trip with a smile, because nothing seems fun when you’re nauseas and sick.

If you want to enjoy your cruise trip while you’re fit and healthy, it’s best to avoid some foods. Here are all the treats in disguise that you need to keep your hands off of.

1. Sushi

Sushi

Even though our cruise management prepares each meal ever so meticulously and carefully, you never know which ingredient may react negatively in your system. This is why it’s best to not challenge your immunity with any sushi that’s offered to you. Same goes for tuna rolls that may catch your eye. The summer heat can easily make food go bad and it’s best not to experiment with your health while you’re at sea.

2. Soft Serve Ice Creams

Cruises are popularly known for soft serve ice creams that are readily available for the pleasure of our guests. But crowds of people clustered around the stall may forget to maintain basic hygiene standards if they’re using the same lever used to extract ice cream is used to hold it while eating it too. It’s simply icky to touch the lever and then the cone that you’re going to eat because you have no idea how many hands may have touched the same lever before you. A bowl for storing the ice cream will be a better option.

3. Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled Eggs

If you feel yourself getting drawn to the soft, squishy scrambled eggs that are served for the breakfast buffet, think twice. It’s highly likely that the eggs are powdered and that won’t be a treat for your health. It’s better to get an omelet made right in front of your eyes at the station.

4. Leftover Food

It’s admirable if you’re trying to stay within your limits and spending carefully but it’s actually not so smart to save up on food and eat leftovers. The cruise is the last place you’d want to fall sick in, without proper medical supplies to provide healthcare services to you. People often think it’s wise to save food from the night before and eat it the next day but anything stale is only going to put you up for a health risk.

5. Communal Condiments

Don’t overlook minor factors that can make your stay at the cruise unhygienic. This includes ketchup bottles, other sauces and condiments that are laid out on the table. These condiments are for communal use and are often passed around. If you notice any discrepancy in the hygiene standards on board, alert the management immediately. Even though they may not have caused it, but they’ll make sure you’re provided for some other way.
