Yachting Gear: Essentials and Nice-To-Haves

If you’re new to sailing, you’re probably not too sure about the things you need for a great trip. You’ll probably end up packing way more than you can need, leaving you feeling flustered when you get on the boat. Yachting is meant to be an exciting experience or a relaxing one, depending on what you want it to be.

Here is some yachting gear to pack on every trip:

Essentials

Motion sickness products

If it’s your first time on a boat, it’s best not to take a risk with sea sickness. Pack ginger chews, menthol sprays, and over-the-counter-drugs for motion sickness. The rocking of the waves, if the sea is a bit rough, can make you feel queasy. Even if you don’t suffer from motion sickness, someone on the boat is bound to feel unwell, always have these supplies on hand.

Clothing

Luckily, Cabo experiences warm temperatures all year round. Even if you’re visiting in the winter months, you get to enjoy the sunshine without having to layer up. You can sport your favorite swimwear and comfy cruise wear on a yacht. Remember to pack light; you won’t need as many changes of clothes as you may think. We do recommend you pack enough swimming costumes if you plan on taking a dip or two throughout the day.

Bring along protective clothing to shield yourself against the sun, like caps and hats. Sarongs are great for when you’re lounging on the deck.

Quick dry towels are a godsend when on a yacht. Leave them out to dry and it should be done in an hour or so.

Nice-To-Haves

Convenience items

Power outlets tend to be limited on yachts, which is probably best because it encourages you to detach from the world and your phone. However, for those who absolutely need their phones, power banks are ideal when going on a yacht. They can charge your camera as well as your phone.

Other convenience products to pack along include ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper and the sound of the waves keeps you awake. Eye masks are an essential since the sun gets quite bright in Cabo.

Entertainment

To make the most of your time on the boat, pack some fun things to do with you. Card and board games are great to play indoors. If any of your family members or friends play an acoustic instrument, ask them to bring it along and enjoy an evening of sing along.

Visit Los Cabos this year for vacation. This tourist destination is home to the bluest waters you’ve ever seen. It’s also known for the amazing sea adventures offered like yachting.
