Pick The Right Season
Mexico is known for its beautiful humpback whales and great grays. But if you want to catch a glimpse of them, it’s important that you go between the months of November and April.
This is the mating season for humpbacks and gray whales. Each spring, they leave their breeding grounds and head toward Cabo San Lucas.
They swim for 4 to 6 weeks continuously. As for gray whales, they start migrating in February and travel 5,000 miles to come to Cabo San Lucas.
They arrive in Cabo San Lucas around the end of March and the best time to see them is during April and May.
Wear The Right Clothes
The best place to watch humpbacks and grays is on the outer deck of a yacht. But make sure you dress accordingly.
We recommend wearing proper swimwear so you can protect yourself from the water. Whales tend to jump and create splashes.
But more than that, if you’re going during the months of November and December, remember that it will be windy and cold.
Although Cabo San Lucas is known for being warm, during the winters it can get slightly chilly. Wear layers of clothing or bring a jacket with you. Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses and binoculars as well so you can get a good glimpse of the whales.
